Our Old House

My 1890 started out as a 5-room frame house
and was expanded somewhere around the 20’s or 30’s
judging by the light fixtures.

The porch was added 10-15 years ago.

It’s been grey with white trim since 2006.

i painted the metal roof over the porch bright ass Million Dollar Red as well
as tri-coloring the gables and accents.

I’m posting this because I’ve been seeing too many people
judging others houses or telling them what they should
or shouldn’t do to their old homes.

Guess what?

I did what I wanted and couldn’t care less what anyone else has to say.

It’s my house. My money. My tastes.

Nobody says you have to keep a house original to what it looked like 130 years ago
or however many yours happens to be.

Don’t let others influence your decisions when making changes on your homes.

You’re the one who has to look at it every day.

Do what you want; what you like.

These old houses are a huge pain in the ass and the fact we are willing to put the time,
money and effort into saving them is enough.

The fact we aren’t tearing them down and replacing them with new constructions is enough.

Everything else is a matter of personal taste.

Make the house your home.

I love this old girl and I don’t plan on ever leaving
so I’ll do whatever I want without worrying for one second
what anyone has to say about it.

You should too. This group has gotten way too judgmental lately.

Just appreciate the fact people are saving these old homes; that’s the main thing.

Don’t get me wrong, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

It’s how those opinions are presented that’s the issue.

There’s no reason to be a self-righteous a-hole trying to shame someone
on Facebook for choosing gray paint or for deciding to add a metal roof or whatever....
keep it to yourself if you can’t respectfully voice your opinion like an adult
