Inexpensive Log Cabin – Have a Look Inside

    affordable-log-cabin-1.
Take a closer look at this traditional post and beam cabin structure. The compact log cabin design features an open living area on the ground floor and a ladder-accessible loft sleeping area upstairs. A tiny covered front porch is included in the log cabin design. Owners Sam and Monika erected the post and beam cabin structure near Horsefly Lake in central British Columbia. The log cabin design is a post and beam construction that uses logs rather than squared-off timbers as in timber frame construction. The roof structure, loft floor, and front porch are all supported by logs in this little log cabin design. Standard two-by-six stick construction is used for the walls between the log corner posts. The log cabin’s exterior is made up of a mix of naturally finished logs and painted barn red board siding. In this eco-building design, this compact log house design is a good example of a quality post and beam log cabin design with a reduced footprint.
The ground floor of the log cabin design provides 320 square feet of room, plus an upper loft. The log cabin design’s floors and ceilings are made of pine, and the eco building’s walls offer a unique appearance. The walls are made of nailed live-edge boards that are attached to painted drywall and have gaps between them that look like chinked timbers. The huge log beams visible on the ceiling of the log cabin design are what truly distinguishes this log cabin design from others and gives it a high-end appearance. The wood cottage is connected to the grid and has electric heat, but there is no running water. The log cabin is complemented by a post and beam outhouse.

The skeleton of the wood cabin is a feature of both wooden wood cabins and post and beam cabin constructions.

The fundamental distinction between timber frame wood cabins and post and beam cabin structures
is achieved by exposing the cabin building frame’s squared or round logs, which contribute to the wood cabin’s rustic appeal.

    Framing using wood.

The classic kind of wood cabin construction, timber framed cabins, may be traced back hundreds of years.

Some timber frame cabin structures were built throughout Europe during the Middle Ages and are still standing today.

The integrity of the building materials and tight-fitting joinery are essential in true timber frame cabin construction.
Cabin construction with post and beams. Wood timber construction is used in many mountain wood cabins, either as the main structure design or as accents in the form of roof supports, trusses, brackets, or braces. Post and beam log house construction is similar to timber-framed cabin construction, with the exception that post and beam uses mechanical fasteners and,
in some cases, steel plate connectors to connect neighboring pieces.

In post and beam cabin structures, these connectors can be hidden or exposed in a variety of ways.

The usage of wood post and beam log cabin designs as the only structural framework for a cabin is uncommon.

    Entrance with Posts and Beams.

Post and beam wood cabin construction, like timber-framed cabin construction,
necessitates the use of professional carpenters to assist create tight, well-crafted log joints.

Perr Blockhaus is home to this beautiful log structure.

They make little houses and wood cabin-style structures, and they’re really good at it!

This is a 1969 International short school bus that was converted into the Old School B&B
    in British Columbia, Canada.

It’s built with materials that were salvaged locally and it’s decorated with fun thrifted vintage items
to bring us back to the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s.

The bus has a roof built above it to protect it from the weather and to cover the outdoor bathroom/outhouse as well as the porch area.

The interior space is 19′ feet long from front to back, 7.5′ wide, and 5’10” high in the middle.

It’s heated with a small Dickinson marine propane fireplace which is perfectly placed
in the center of the bus to maximize heat distribution and to add a cozy ambiance.

The bus walls and ceiling are insulated with rigid foam and the owner plans to add spray foam
on the underside of the bus because the floors do get chilly in the colder months.

The driver’s seat area was converted into an indoor shower with salvaged granite tile and a window to let steam escape.
The shower curtain has magnets along the side to keep it tightly closed so that no water leaks out.

The kitschy kitchenette is on the driver’s side of the bus.

It has a long kitchen counter with a sink, a painted bar fridge,
a 2-burner propane stove (with a hood fan!), and lots of storage space
    under the counter for dishes.

Most of the visible windows are operable which allows for lots of natural air flow!

The passenger side of the bus has a copper penny desk and stool for working and crafting,
and there’s also a dresser beneath it for linen and clothing storage.

The wheel wells were turned into two storage benches for lounging, eating meals,
or playing board games and the rectangle cutout under the bed is actually a hidden folding table
that can be set up between the benches.

A raised queen-size bed at the back creates loads of storage space beneath it,
and it also saves floor space because it’s oriented side-to-side rather than front-to-back.

They built a bathroom/outhouse next to the bus with an Envirolet composting toilet and running water.
There’s a covered porch on one side of the bus and a firepit area on the other,
which provides lots of outdoor living space as well.

The owner is a landscaper and she created beautiful whimsical gardens all around the bus with driftwood,
planters, and lots of fun secondhand objects hidden throughout.

This Japanese Forest Home Is Cuter Than Any Hobbit House

It's like something straight out of a fairytale.

    TAKUMI OTA

While it looks like it belongs in the Shire, this enchanting fairytale home actually exists in Japan. Named "Jikka," the home is made up of five small hut-like structures joined together to form a single house. Japanese architect Issei Suma says he designed Jikka to be "something as unembellished as a primitive hut and something as holy as a chapel."
Located at the top of a mountain ridge in Shizuoka prefecture, the hut-like structures were built at different heights to bring to mind the surrounding mountains.
So who are the lucky people who get to live in this amazing home? After the house was finished in 2015, two women in their 60s — a social worker and a cook — moved in with hopes of using it to serve the elderly in their community. The two women not only deliver homemade meals to the elderly, but also open up their home to the public every afternoon to serve lunch from 12-4 p.m. There is also a guest room in the house with a nautilus-shaped bathtub (it's wheelchair-friendly!) for any elderly or disabled person who needs nursing care.
