Don’t be like one
of those chameleon souls
who blends in to not stand out.

When your light is strong
and you’re singing your heart’s song
at the top of your confident lungs,
there is no darkness strong enough
to make you trip and lose your magic.

If you curl up in a ball next to all of the other blanks;
if you sit on the same bench to not attract attention to yourself,
then you are sitting in your fears,
and can’t say that you’ve switched gears.

Be proud of your differences
and live up to who you are,
you weren’t given all of that power
to let your uniqueness fizzle out.

It was given to you
because you’re here to make some waves.
Step on the diving board,
smile at every shocked onlooker
and give them a reason to choke on their conformity.
