The ancient Egyptian civilization reveals new secrets every day with a new birth, a new discovery in Saqqara dating back to the Fifth and Sixth Dynasties of the Old Kingdom.
The Egyptian mission found a group of tombs of the Old Kingdom, which indicates that the site contains a large cemetery. The most important tomb belonged to Khnum Jed-If, who was a priest in the pyramid complex of Unas of the Fifth Dynasty. The second largest tomb belonged to Miri, who was an official in the royal palace.
They also found a tomb of a priest in the pyramid complex of King Pepi I of the Sixth Dynasty, which contains nine beautiful statues. The owner of this tomb may have been a name named Messi, based on a false door found near the statues.
Another exciting discovery was the finding of a 15-meter-long pillar. A large rectangular limestone sarcophagus was found at the bottom of this shaft, belonging to a man named Heka-shepes. The sarcophagus was found sealed with mortar, just as the ancient Egyptians left it 4,300 years ago. A mummy was found inside it, covered with gold leaf. This mummy may be the oldest and most complete mummy found in Egypt to date.
In addition, the expedition yielded numerous amulets, stone vessels, and items of daily life

3,000-year-old wooden toe prosthetic discovered on an Egyptian mummy

Check out this 3,000-year-old wooden toe prosthetic discovered on an Egyptian mummy.
Researchers think the toe is one of the world's oldest prosthetic devices.
New research found that the wooden toe was refitted several times. Based on the meticulous construction of the ancient prosthesis, the researchers determined the wearer — a priest's daughter — wanted the toe to look natural and be comfortable to wear.
The Early Iron Age prosthesis was found in a tomb cut into the older burial chapel at the graveyard hill of Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, west of Luxor, Egypt.
