Peace is the passage to understanding.

I said to an ex-partner of mine many years ago
why do you always have the music on
nearly 24-hours a day?

The reply was astonishing, it goes like this.

I don’t like the noise in my ears when there is silence in the background.

What noise I asked?

The noise/Feeling of being alone, the noise of being detached
from other people.

She didn’t like it when I started to laugh out loud.

Don’t you see the outside world is a distraction I said to her,
and in that distraction you can get lost in other people’s playtimes
and nightmares of Meyer and delusion?

Being able to cut the noise of the outside world out of your life,
gives you time to concentrate on the inner being of yourself,
and when you find the peace that is the centre of all things
and all experiences you will come to understand that being quiet,
walking in silence is all part of becoming the master of yourself
rather than letting the outside world control you.

Silence is one of the tools that you will develop in your lifetime
to become self-realised and an alchemist where you will turn noise
into peace and loneliness (in the physical sense) into the growth
of soul and spirit.

PS she laughed heartily and said you’re off your trolley,
will you please turn the music up louder she said to me.

Needless to say, that was the end of that relationship.
