    Assimilation

    Assimilation
    ...by raxnae

While I may have been one to Walk the Road of Solitude,
I did traverse Love's Battlefield many times,
Til my Heart was no longer in it,
    Who Am I?

I Am a Data Collector for the Human Race,
A Living Memory of Man-kinds trials and errors,
    I Assimilate data and knowledge,
Something I picked up when I Pierced the Void as a True Philosopher Poet Can.

    So Every Lover I had,
Bore my DNA Marking within them,
Like eating an apple and assimilating the nutrition for vital use,
And so Their Children even though unborn of me would be Marked by Me.

    I was at My Peak,
    Leaving Seeds,
    Storing more Information,
And then as Old Man Time Called I Died.

I was Cremated and made the Food of a Young Oak Sapling,
And by Little Luck of Chance my Consciousness was Reborn within that Tree,
Stranger Still I Lacked Heart Wood,
Yet a Living Tombstone I Became.

    A Blink of Awareness,
Tiny Pin Pricks on my body,
"Rex ana" Carved upon My Trunk,
    My Children Heard My Call.

    Whether Genetic Instinct,
Or the Schemes of a Mad Man,
    They were Drawn to Me,
    Giving to me Nutrition.

    After Hundreds of Years,
I was a Living Tree Spirit,
Able to somewhat manipulate the area around me,
My Children had grown in number.

    They Fed me Data,
    Read Stories,
Gave up unto me Their Ashes,
All to Create Something New and Grand.

    Unnaturally I Never Grew Old,
Only Taller and Wider as My Roots Spread,
Connecting to the Roots of Other Lifeforms,
Until One Fateful Day All Things within the Earth were Assimilated into Me.

    I Became the Infinite Mind,
The Container of God's Mind Taken from the Void,
I Assimilated Every Star System One by One by Spores,
Until there Was But My Voice and Many Silent.

When There was Nothing more to Devour,
I Found Myself Dreaming and Pondering My Missing Heart Wood,
So I Stretched out My Consciousness into the Void once more,
Further and Further Til I Found something New.

    A Female Force,
    All Emotion,
    The Mother Body,
The Missing Heart With Cherry Blossom Hair.

"Want to Play a Game?" I asked,
    Knowing the Miracle to Follow,
"Hehe Sure" She Echoed at my Empty Center,
"My Soul for Your Heart." And so the Infinite Mind Merged with the Infinite Heart and All Life knew the Grand Dream.
