October 29, 2022: Mars Stationary

Mars (Aries to the Greeks) was the Roman god of war.

Mars never missed a battle.

The smell of blood and the smoke of destruction
was like an aphrodisiac to him.

His mission was to fuel the passion of the combatants,
stoking their ferocity and cruelty.

In an astrological horoscope, Mars describes how we express anger.

It is also our ability to manifest.

Mars retrograde is always challenging and Mars retrograde
in Gemini is particularly problematic.

Mars in Gemini is a multi-tasker, happiest when juggling a lot of balls.

Add one ball too many and this Warrior becomes overwhelmed.

This position of Mars does best with focused direction
from an external source.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology,
Mars is allied with Set, the Warrior King.

Set is a complicated archetype.

He is both the warrior run amok (he kills his brother Osiris)
as well as the protector of Ra as the Sun God moves
through his nightly underworld journey.

The difference between the first expression and the second is intention.

In the Osirian myth, it is not clear why Set kills his brother.

Jealousy?

Insanity?

A bad day?

We are confused about the Warrior King’s intention,
which is frightening.

In the second myth, Set’s intention is clear.

Ra – and the Earth
- must be protected.

Ra must survive his journey through the underworld;
the Sun must rise.

Mars retrograde provides an opportunity to consider
if we are in alignment with our Sacred Intention.

This Mars station coincides with Jupiter retrograding back
into Pisces, and Mars in a square to a loose conjunction
of Jupiter and Neptune.

This is a confusing combination.

And as our Warrior connects with our heart,
the seat of our Sacred Intention, the path toward right action
becomes clear.

Mars will turn retrograde on October 30, 2022
and direct on January 12, 2023.

The very elusive aurora borealis made her brief appearance again around 2 am this morning October 30, 2022
Relying on earlier reports and forecasts of auroral activity, we watched and waited. And true enough we were never disappointed despite the occurence being short and brief.
