    · Today, in Poland and in Polish immigrant communities,
Pączki - Polish styled doughnuts, are being made by the thousands,
as part of "Tłusty czwartek" (Fat Thursday).

In older Polish-American communities, "Pączki Day"
is celebrated on the following Tuesday.

In the Buffalo area, there are two pączki-centered events t
    hat take place in between.

One is the "Pre-Pączki Popup" on Saturday,
at the Adam Mickiewicz Library, 612 Fillmore Ave. in Buffalo (see: https://www.facebook.com/events/860261175190357),

and the other is "Pączki Day" on Sunday, from 1-7,
at the Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral, 5274 Broadway in Lancaster (see: https://www.facebook.com/events/1050087662044750).

Our sponsors Chrusciki Bakery at Eastern Hills in Clarence, NY,
the European Market and Deli in Niagara Falls, Ont,
and the Euro Deli, in the Airport Plaza in Cheektowaga, NY,
    make their own pączki !

Stop in for the goodness before Lent begins.
...and if you prefer to make your own, Anna at Polish Your Kitchen has a recipe for you! See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yP72DVVLxdw&t=19s

Fun fact: the 'polish recipe' is originally German, called 'Berliner'
    -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berliner_(doughnut)
'In the late 15th-century the German language cookbook Kuchenmeisterei
was published in Nuremberg (it was later translated into Polish in 1532).
It was one of the first cookbooks printed using the Gutenberg press
and contains the first known recipe for a jelly doughnut,
called Gefüllte Krapfen made with jam-filled yeasted bread dough deep-fried in lard.'
