    ‘Clach-na-Bratach’ Ball
    or Sphere of Rock Crystal

The ‘Clach-na-Bratach’ or ‘Stone of the Standard’
is a Scottish Charm Stone ‘ball of rock Crystal,
that has been in the possession of ‘Clan Donnachaidh’ since 1314.

The precious Charm Stone was believed to have healed illness,
and it also held clairvoyant properties.

Tradition recounts that in 1314 the Chief of the Clan
on his way to join King Robert the Bruce’s Army
before the Battle of Bannockburn, noticed ‘on his standard being pulled up one morning,
the crystal ball glittering in a cloud of earth hanging to his flag staff.’

The Chief showed the ball to his followers and told them
‘he felt sure it’s brilliant lights were a good omen,
and foretold their victory in the coming battle.’

Later, the stone accompanied the clan ‘whenever it was out,
and it was always consulted as to the fate of the Battle.’

It was believed that when the Charm Stone
‘became cloudy it signified the death of a Clan Chief.’

The ‘Clach-na-Bratach’ was held in great virtue in the Scottish Highlands
for its powers to ‘cure men and cattle of rare diseases.’

    People would travel great distances
to ‘get water in which it had been dipped for various purposes.’

The Clach-na-Bratach is currently on display in the Clan Donnachaidh Museum 1f339.

That's my clan! Unfortunately the stone now has a big crack in it,
      and ever since then,
the clan fortunes have gone wrong til no clan lands left today.
The clan chief lives in Jamaica.

Good story. I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest it ran out of batteries in 1745!
      • :( (obviously, should NOT be a keeper of this crystal) LOL

      • Amy Fitzpatrick
They should still be using the crystal stone to keep healing.
