Over the summer we improved ADX’s design, and today we’re sharing a preview of what’s to come. 2:24 PM · Oct 18, 2022·Twitter Web App 461 Retweets 158 Quote Tweets 1,478 Likes Tweet your reply Reply bluesky @bluesky · Oct 18 Replying to @bluesky The AT Protocol is a new federated social network. It integrates ideas from the latest decentralized technologies into a simple, fast, and open network. It’s a way for servers to communicate with each other – like email. Instead of one site running the network, you can have many sites. Users get a choice of provider, and individuals and businesses can self-host if they want. 9 17 161 bluesky @bluesky · Oct 18 What makes the AT Protocol unique: Account portability Algorithmic choice Interoperation Performance 5 16 119 bluesky @bluesky · Oct 18 Account portability A person’s online identity should not be owned by corporations with no accountability to their users. With the AT Protocol, you can move your account from one provider to another without losing any of your data or social graph. 5 33 194 bluesky @bluesky · Oct 18 Algorithmic choice Algorithms dictate what we see and who we can reach. We must have control over our algorithms if we're going to put trust in our online spaces. The AT Protocol supports open algorithms so users have more control over their experience. 1 20 137 bluesky @bluesky · Oct 18 Interoperation The world needs a diverse market of connected services to ensure healthy competition. The AT Protocol includes a schema-based interoperation framework called Lexicon to help solve coordination challenges. 3 12 85 bluesky @bluesky · Oct 18 Performance Many novel protocols don't prioritize performance, resulting in long loading times before you can see your timeline. We don’t see performance as optional, so we’ve made it a priority to build for fast loading at large scales. 1 9 92 bluesky @bluesky · Oct 18 Learn more on the AT Protocol website. You’ll find a few “TODOs” in the specs, but the technology is stable enough that we can start to communicate what we’re doing now. atproto.com The AT Protocol A social networking technology created by Bluesky.

U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee/Handout via Reuters Feb 7 (Reuters) - Bluesky, a Twitter Inc-funded (TWTR.N) project that is seeking to rebuild how social media companies operate, said on Monday Twitter co-founder and former chief executive Jack Dorsey will join the company's board. Bluesky is working to build a technology that would allow different social media companies to operate on the same standard, which would enable developers to build apps that work across platforms and users to easily switch between the services. Dorsey first announced Bluesky in 2019, saying the effort would take years to build. Advertisement · Scroll to continue The vision to build a "decentralized" standard for social media comes as industries, including finance and tech are seeing a growing movement to transfer power or operations from central authorities like companies and governments to users. Jay Graber, chief executive of Bluesky, said in a blog post on Monday that the organization will build and release "a prototype that illustrates our approach." The Bluesky board also includes developer Jeremie Miller, who invented the technology that instant messaging services use to operate, Graber said.
